My dearest MBE family,
Wow, so the ground hog thing is right. Well at least we are already two weeks into the six more weeks of winter. And as ya’ll know the MBE rainbow continues to keep our rides a go. We had a great break in the weather for the Ft. Ord ride. We are so blessed.
Well it’s that time again to kick into Poker Ride gear. I know this will, as every year be the biggest.
Please remember to be at the March meeting, we will start getting signups for jobs that are desparately needed to keep this event what it has become. Our team leaders have already been working very hard and they all need as much help as possible. Please get the word out to all your friends and any feed stores, or any place you think we can get riders from. The wild flowers should be amazing this year. And we have some fun ideas I will present at the meeting. So keep those rain slickers out, but ride with the wind. I will see you in March.
This months recipe:
Alfalfa Soup
- 1 cup mineral oil or corn oil
- 1 to 2 gallons of hot water
- Alfalfa cubes
Fill a 5 gallon feed bucket 1/4 to 1/3 full of loose alfalfa cubes. Mix the cubes and 1 gallon of hot water. Let sit for 20 minutes then add oil add more warm water if necessary to make a thick soup. Make sure it is warm and not hot before you feed.
Note: if your horse is not accustomed to alfalfa cubes, gradually introduce this receip with a very small quanity.
Ride on,
Deb
