WOW, I am just back from the Poker Ride, what a great weekend. It was perfect. I need to say a BIG job well done to Patti and Mike Garcia. You guys are amazing, and I don’t know how you do it, but you keep getting better. If that is possible.

The cooks and their dedication to perfection is astounding and always impresses the crowd. Patti Aguirre, what can I say you hold this event together and keep it growing to an amazing level.

To the kitchen staff, each and everyone of you worked yourselves to the bone. But a special thanks to Harry Price, he was there in that kitchen from before the sun came up to well after it went down. His experience helped the kitchen run like a well timed clock.

Margaret, and the prize corral ladies, did a beautiful job and smiled the whole time. And to Liz in registration, WOW, if you don’t know what her job is, well it starts and goes on well before and after the weekend. She is wonderful and greets everyone with a warmth and smile only she can deliver, and still keeps the books straight, how does she do it? Carolyn the fashion queen, was peddling her styles and took many orders. Thank you for bringing and showing all the fashions. Of course we cannot forget our master of ceremony Mr. Armando Aguirre whom always seems to like that mic and talking. The amazing grounds crew who set up and tore down. The greeters at the gate for our guests, thank you. And of course the poker dealers, most of us sat from 1 PM to 6 PM on those oh so hard benches and had a great time doing it. If I forgot anyone, I am so sorry, but without each and everyone of us this event would not be what it is.

As you already know it takes dedication and a lot of us to keep this ride as amazing as it is. All I heard was how much fun people were having and how wonderful the food was and how amazing the prizes were. OH ya and how they were going to tell ALL their friends about this for next year!!! HELP. OK so we have a year to rest, I just hope that’s enough.

One of my favorite things about the Poker ride, it is the kick off for the camping season. So here’s to many more wonderful campouts with my favorite people and horses. See ya on the trail.

Ride on.
