We are seriously looking at June, where is the time going?? I am now living with a retired first man!! Matt retired May 14th from a 32 year career in Fire fighting. He is now my ranch foreman.

I was lucky enough to get to go with several of our members to the Salinas Valley Hospital women’s ride. What a great time. The weather was forecasted as rain all weekend, but we only saw real rain Friday night, and a few sprinkles on Saturday. The trails were beautiful and the horse games a blast. Ok and the real reason we go, the food and open bar helped a lot too!!

Now, for this months HORSE TREATS recipe: From the desserts section

Brown Sugar Peaches

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups bran
  • 6 cups Quaker oats
  • 4 fresh peaches, sliced
  • 1 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • 2 apples, quartered
  • 1 cup corn oil
  • warm water

preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a large baking pan and set aside

Mix sliced apples with bran, Quaker oats, 3 1/2 cups of warm water and molasses in a bowl. Pour mixture into baking pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, and check often to make sure it is not getting to dark. Remove from the oven and let cool. After it cools, place baked mixture directly into your horse’s feed bucket with 2 1/2 to 3 cups of warm water and 1 cup corn oil. Mix thoroughly. Top with sliced carrots, sliced fresh peaches and sprinkle with brown sugar.

I hope to see you all on the trail soon. I am sooooo looking forward to June, that means the summer off for me. I hope to be on the trails as much as possible.

Ride on
